I'm so glad you're getting your inventory documented. No one wants to experience this, but having the information if you do, you'll have a less stressful and be able to maximize your claim, vs. Shelly's experience of knowing she won't have the ability to remember for a sufficient settlement.

WOW! What a sad story. How devastating for that family.

It's reading things like this that reminds me how grateful I am for what I have.

The way you handled this was amazing too. You could have said - as I'm sure many BIG corporations would have done - "I'm sorry, we provide service for BEFORE this happens. Nothing we can do to help you now!"

But instead, you talked with her and offered assistance for where she was without thought of what you had to sell.

That to me, is what separates your company from the rest! You don't give lip service to caring, you really do care for people!

Kudo's to Hartman Inventory! And yet another reason why you are doing our inventory this month!

In order to ensure that your valuable belongings have been properly insured, it would be a wise decision to make a detailed inventory of all the items along with the approximate cost, and get the list endorsed by a certified valuer. If possible also attach the cash memos and bills of your purchases with the list. It would make the task of the valuer much easier and add authenticity to your list.
